Sam Cooper reported in Global News in November of 2022 that the Chinese consulate in Toronto was cultivating a network of 11 political candidates in the 2019 federal election. A series of subsequent reports would show that the Chinese Communist Party has been meddling in Canadian politics at all levels of government for many years and that Justin Trudeau was China's preferred choice to be Liberal leader, and prime minister.

What if the Central Bank (controlled by the federal government) decided they will not transfer those deposits to cash (they'll say you don't need cash now, CBDC is safer), and told you that you should only spend your CBDC on "verified" purchases (the list will be updated daily)?
What if the Central Bank "temporarily" froze your CBDC wallet because your social credit score was low: you have a speeding ticket, or someone did not like your social media post and now you have a "hate speech" charge, or the cause you donated to has been retroactively deemed "unacceptable"?
What would you do? Call the 1-800 number on your CDBC wallet and try to resolve the situation? What if you run out of minutes or data on your mobile plan? Hire a lawyer ... how would you pay the lawyer if your CBDC wallet is frozen?
